Every once in awhile there comes a turd polisher who is so hopeless, who has fallen so far down into the abyss of public opinion that no amount of polish can clean up the mess.
Enter Frank McCourt.
In the aftermath of being essentially run out of town….of having his team snatched from him like a gold necklace in a dark alley…after having the embarrassment of his plundering ways reported in newspapers and magazines all over the country…Frank delivers this gem in the LA Times in which he actually blames the City itself for his woes.
“As much as the last 18 months have been a living nightmare for me, they have given me an opportunity to reflect on a number of things — to reflect on decisions I made and choices I made, to realize there were mistakes that I made, and to learn from those mistakes. It has allowed me to reflect on who I am as a person, what my priorities are, and what my values are.
I know who I am as a person. It is the same person that I was before I came to L.A. Perhaps I let some things here change me a bit. I’m sorry about that.”
We could likely give this award to Frankie every single day as no matter what he says, he will be eternally polishing a turd.
